Industry bailouts

I really ticks me off when I hear talking heads on TV go on about bailing out this industry or that and adding (like it really matters) that "we have to ensure that the tax payers get a return on their money". Like someone in DC will actually cut me an extra check when the loans are repaid. Right. What will really happen is that Washington will have even more extra money to spend on even more useless government programs that once created will need constant care and feeding from the public trough.

Sorry but let them float or sink on their own. This goes for the financial sector, the automobile sector, airlines and all the rest. No company is too big to allow to fail if they can not survive on their own.

Disabled voters coached to support Obama?

If this is true, this is just one more example of a party and candidate that will do anything, cross any line, twist any law (or just ignore it) to get the presidency. If acquired in this way, how can anyone expect it to be viewed as legitimate?

Peeling Scotch Tape Emits X-Rays

The article notes that this could result in the creation of a human powered X-Ray machine. A hand-crack that unrolls Scotch Tape in a vacuum. Very interesting. You would need to send it back to be reloaded with tape and re-vacuumed. You may could get extra life out of the device by reversing the direction of the tape in the machine, first the tape all goes one way, then back.

Could be a big boon to third-world doctors and field medics.

Non-poll

Give this poll a look and see of you can see what might be wrong with it, I'll wait...

Did you see the "problem"? Did you look at the poll results?
In case it changes, here is a capture of the poll and the results at that time.

No Fox News.

Cable news ratings for Wednesday, October 22, 2008 were:

Total Viewers:
Fox News: 3,472,000
MSNBC: 1,971,000
CNN: 1,802,000

But they don't rate for this poll. Wonder why?

7-YR. old gets an ACORN vote

ACORN volunteers have been found to register dead people and even put members of the Dallas Cowboys on Nevada lists.

The community organizing group has a long history of flooding low- and middle-income neighborhoods in election years with temporary workers instructed to register 20 to 25 voters per day - or risk getting fired.

But we don't need no stinking voter ID laws! Not around here...

The Plan

Giveaway Bailout Plan passes

House Minority Leader Boehner:

The passage of this flawed but necessary bill is not cause for celebration.

The financial crisis is not a failure of the free-market system. It is a failure of a broken Washington, and a government culture that allowed executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and other firms to run amok, ultimately imperiling our nation’s economy. For years Republicans warned of this danger and advocated reform of these government-sponsored enterprises. And for years such reforms were thwarted by legislators with deep political ties to the worst offenders, putting the companies’ interests ahead of the interests of our country.

House Republicans stood on principle throughout this process. We secured numerous reforms on behalf of American taxpayers, such as raising the FDIC insurance cap, the SEC’s change to mark-to-market rules for certain assets that have worsened the credit crisis, and an insurance program that forces Wall Street to bear a financial burden in the rescue package. Republicans also were successful in stripping from the original Paulson-Democrat bailout plan of its special-interest earmarks for trial lawyers, labor bosses, and thinly-veiled political organizations like ACORN. This significantly improved legislation is much stronger than the initial Paulson plan and protects the interests of families, seniors, small businesses, and all taxpayers.

Ain't that the truth! Others have referred to this bill as a "crap sandwich" which is putting it mildly. What started out as a 3 page bill last week is well over 450 pages now. Politicians caused this mess and made money off of it, told us how important and necessary it was for us all to come together to fix it and then lined their pockets even more. What pigs. They all should be ashamed but as politicians, you know they will not be.

Biden can TIME TRAVEL!

Between the chosen one's just plain Super Coolness and Joe Biden's ability to travel through time, Republicans might as well just give it up now. What? You don't know Joe was a time-traveler? It is true! Biden said (during the VP debate last night): Look, all you have to do is go down Union Street with me in Wilmington or go to Katie’s Restaurant or walk into Home Depot with me where I spend a lot of time and you ask anybody in there whether or not the economic and foreign policy of this administration has made them better off in the last eight years.

Curtis Sliwa of WABC called around Wilmington trying to find Katie’s Restaurant. Imagine his surprise when he discovered that it is not only no longer in business but went out of business during the Clinton Administration, 15 or so years AGO!

That must mean that Joe time-travels back there! Also, I would really, really be surprised to walk into a Home Depot and see Joe there. I would bet that the last time he was in a Home Depot was about the same time he had lunch at Katie's.

More Obama and ACORN

The left subsists on contrived conspiracy theories; improbable events that must be connected in order to justify their positions or explain how there just must be a vast right wing conspiracy pulling all of the strings.

It is interesting when viewed in that light, how many actual entanglements there are on the left. Case in point being the links between Obama, the group ACORN and the current financial crisis. Watch the video, the truth is out there...

Update: it is nice to see that finally, this is starting to get noticed by others though I would not go so far as to expect an actual news person to ask Obama for an explanation.

The truth about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

It is about time that McCain tries to get the truth out on this. The Democrats are getting a major pass by the media and until this ad, the McCain team was letting them walk as well. I think that Nancy Pelosi blew it big time with her partisan attack on Republicans while trying to pass the 700 billion dollar bail-out, in essence blaming them and GWB for the current financial mess when in point of fact, it was Democrats that both started this mess and purposely stopped attempts to head it off.

I would rather not see any "rescue plan" pass and let the system correct its self. More government intervention will just make things worse especially intervention done quickly, without proper thought to the results. I don't think the president or McCain have done themselves any favors pushing for a speedy fix.

I would rather congress do nothing but if they really want to try and fix this, how about giving everyone that owned a home at the beginning of 2008 $10K instead of the banks $700 billion? It would be a whole lot cheaper and would put the money in the hands of the people that can do the most good with it. People would do one of three things with the money, all good. 1) some would pay bills (including mortgage payments) with the money. 2) some will save the money. 3) some will spend it on stuff. Regardless of which or in what combination, these actions will put more money in banks and into the economy. Let the bad loans fail though some will be salvaged by the $10K. In the hands of consumers, the money will go a lot farther and be a lot cheaper than a $700 billion gift to the big lending houses.

Obama's money

Here is a very interesting piece on Power Line the summarizes some issues that the Obama campaign has with the FEC and public donations. Apparently a few people are donating well above the legal limit and are doing so under clearly fake names. The Obama campaign has returned some of the monies but not all.

In addition they have collected a lot of money from overseas by was appear to be a lot of non-citizens.

Even Sen. Hillary Clinton did better than that. Is this a taste of some of that "change we can believe in"...

The New York Times and Damn Lies, again…

The New York Times is at it again, spreading lies related to Republicans in this case. The lie in question this time is the easily debunked rumor that Wasilla Mayor Sarah Palin had the rape victims charged for their own rape kits. The fact that author Dorothy Samuels sites the A.P. as her source is not a valid excuse given all of the recent fact check problems that have also plagued that bastion of truth. Dorothy states that “Ms. Palin owes voters an explanation.” How about Dorothy explaining how she still continues to push a story that has been debunked for months and even as recently as two weeks ago in USA Today where Palin spokeswoman Maria Comella said in an e-mail that the governor "does not believe, nor has she ever believed, that rape victims should have to pay for an evidence-gathering test." "Gov. Palin's position could not be more clear," she said. "To suggest otherwise is a deliberate misrepresentation of her commitment to supporting victims and bringing violent criminals to justice."

As is becoming ever more typical with the NTY, why let the truth get in the way of a good story. The media tried it with one big story a few years ago with the faked Bush National Guard memos. It seems that the media has learned at least one lesson, not to put all of their eggs in one basket. Instead of going for the jugular with one big wild story, they are trying to blanket the country with a thousand little wild ones. I guess their hope is that there would be so many stories out there that should the McCain campaign try to debunk them all, they would look like they were lying whether they are or not.

The flip side of this is that we are hearing nothing about Obama and his early years in Chicago, his Bill Ayrs connections, his time as a local legislator or his involvement with ACORN. I guess there is no time for investigative reporting on Obama when there are so many false rumors about Palin to spread…

Joe Biden, his own alternate reality!

"After seven years, in which our senior diplomatic personnel were not allowed to make a single contact with Iranians, the Bush administration realized the absurdity of its own policy and sent our leading diplomat to Iran," he said. "The Assistant Secretary of State as he went to Tehran, sat down at the instruction of the President of the United States." . . .

Trouble is, the event Biden described never actually happened.

In point of fact, the one "meeting" that has taken place was in Geneva, Switzerland, when Under Secretary of State William Burns sat in on a discussion between Iranian representatives and the other "P5+1" political directors involved in nuclear talks. The meeting, while a first, was not a negotiation; Burns was there merely as an observer, and had no formal role or talks with the Iranians.

So, point by point: Burns was not sent to Tehran; he did not go to Tehran; and there was no such instruction from the President.

Does Biden even try to pretend that he has a clue any more or is he so sure that most of the media will cover for him that he need not bother? And this is the guy they want a "heart beat" from the presidency?

PETA Urges Ben & Jerry's To Use Human Milk

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, cofounders of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., urging them to replace cow's milk they use in their ice cream products with human breast milk, according to a statement recently released by a PETA spokeswoman.

I love Ben and Jerry's response: "We applaud PETA's novel approach to bringing attention to an issue, but we believe a mother's milk is best used for her child."

Like most of the "social justice" organizations that were born out of the 60 for the purpose of making a difference, they did but instead of being happy with the improvements that they were able to make in the general lives of animals and the reduction and improvement in care for animals used in medical/product testing, they have lost their way. They are now a caricature of their former selves and have just become more shrill and ridicules in their quest to maintain relevance. In some ways they now do more damage than if they did not exist at all.

See our other PETA posts and follow this link.

Bailout Plan

"I must tell you, there are those in the public debate who have said that we must act now. The last time I heard that, I was on a used-car lot," said Rep. Mike Pence, R-Indiana. "The truth is, every time somebody tells you that you've got to do the deal right now, it usually means they're going to get the better part of the deal."

Money quote by Indiana Representative Mike Pence (R).

I have to agree. At this time I think that the bailout is a bad idea. Let the free markets work and let those that will fail, fall. If congress and "community organizers" had not interfered in the first place and pushed banks into making loans to so many unqualified borrowers, we would probably not be in this mess. Additionally if the Democrats had not done all that they could to derail Freddy/Fanny reform in 06, this could have been avoided. As it stands, those of us that have been making our mortgage payments should not have to pay even more money to cover those that don't.

Sarah Palin

"I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities."

Mayor lied and will resign

I read all ~1100 word of this article and learned about a Mayor that had an affair, lied under oath, perjured him self, and other actions. What I did not learn in all 1093 words is what party affiliation the Mayor has. For that I had to turn to Google. There I found out (surprise, surprise) that he is a Democrat.

Why is it that papers can not seem to ever bring themselves to print the "D" when reporting on a political scandal of any sort but will almost without fail run out with the "R" when it is a Republican that is the target of the report?

Obama and Biden

That Obama still has a chance of winning after picking such an insensitive running mate just goes to show you how far America has to go come in overcoming its legacy of racism.
I will go out on a limb and correct(?) James Taranto here. I do believe this is what he meant.

That is quite a telling remark and one I happen to agree with. Based not on racism but on his history and policies, I find it remarkable that Obama has made it this far. This year's set of candidates are both shifted to the left. Obama very left and McCain barely right of center. I think this is a result of the Bush years and though I don't agree with the shift, I can at least understand it. I can not understand why Obama would pick Biden. It is almost as though he expects to loose and wants to make sure he goes down in flames. Biden can not speak for 5 minutes (he certainly can't speak for just 5 minutes) without sticking his foot in his mouth. He is an example of someone in office because the private sector would not have him. For Obama who was running as "a breath of fresh air in Washington" to pick Biden, the consummate insider is unbelievable. He would have been better served to pick Hillery (not that she necessarily would have accepted). When Obama loses, all of the pundits will yell "See America is still racist!" instead of pointing out that the Democratic party made a poor choice who then went on to make another poor choice.

I am not real happy with McCain but he an't Obama. He at least want to protect America first, second and third. I view Obama as another Jimmy Carter and don't feel that the country can take another one of those right now.

The other Obama

Does anyone think if Mr. McCain had a sibling living in a trailer park making minimum wage (892 times more than Mr. Obama's half brother's yearly income) that the mainstream media and the Obama campaign wouldn't notice?

Yet Mr. Obama has a half brother who lives in Africa on three cents a day, and the story breaks in an Italian magazine and is picked up by a London newspaper and a few others in Australia. Perhaps the story would be carried widely in America if they could figure out how to blame President Bush. But as Bob Geldof pointed out, he "has done more [for Africa] than any other president," and of the press harshly judged, "You guys didn't pay attention."
Nor will they pay attention that the McCains have adopted a poor Bangladeshi child and done untold amounts of humanitarian and charity work.

What makes this story newsworthy for Italians, Brits and Aussies, but not Americans, is that the U.S. free press is free to ignore stories that could take down their preordained president. And after the Internet and talk radio-driven "Swift Boat" story unexpectedly sank their last guy, the mainstream American press is taking extra precautions this time around.

No media bias here, nope none...

North Korea hates puppies too!

North Korea declares Sweden an enemy because they are acting as observers for the joint South Korean/U.S. operations taking place near the DMZ. Sweden is there to observe and ensure that the south and U.S. only perform defensive maneuvers. This is for the benefit of North Korea. So how does North Korea return the favor? They declare Sweden an enemy! Boy with friends like that...

Obama's convention to include "Real People" too!

This is rich!

The real people and delegates attending their first convention will be among the roughly 300 people sitting directly around the stage.

Professional speechwriters are helping prepare their remarks, timed to about three minutes each. And just like any senator or other VIP speaker, an assigned staff member will oversee their schedules and logistical movements, including media interviews, speech coaching and on-stage rehearsals.

So these "real people" will be assigned speech writers to "help" prepare their remarks! This is kind of like reality TV then, it will have nothing to do with real or reality! Also, they are supposed to be "real people" that have been selected to appear as part of the night's festivities. So the rest of the attendees are not "real". Well that actually does make sense. The rest of the attendees are politicians!

A world without America

Good idea for a site. The ad posted is interesting and I want to say it was good but I really think they could have done a better job. I rate it as fair. I think they could have listed more examples of U.S. solders not only helping to win wars but helping in humanitarian efforts as well.

eMail Joke: Lie Clocks

A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him. He asked, 'What are all those clocks?'

St. Peter answered, 'Those are Lie-Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock. Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move.'

'Oh,' said the man, 'whose clock is that?'

'That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie.'

'Incredible,' said the man. 'And whose clock is that one?'

St. Peter responded, 'That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands have moved twice, telling us that Abe told only two lies in his entire life.'

'Where's Senator Obama's clock?' asked the man.

'Obama's clock is in Jesus' office. He's using it as a ceiling fan.

Non-partisan Accountable America

This is too rich! Accountable America, a new site set up by Tom Matzzie claims to be “a non-partisan, non-profit corporation.” and that “We do not seek to elect or defeat candidates or endorse candidates for federal office”.

Non-partisan , eh?

On the site’s “about us” page where I got the “non-partisan” line also includes this bit of information: Tom Matzzie is founder and chairman of Accountable America. Tom has worked in progressive politics for more than a decade—with MoveOn.org, the AFL-CIO, the Campaign for America’s Future and campaigns at the presidential and statewide level.

Non-partisan, eh?

The site’s meta tags (from the Google cache Aug 8, 2008 15:18:35 GMT now as the “live site” seems to have been edited) includes:

[meta content="" name="'description'"]Dedicated to electing Democrats to the state legislature across America[/]

[meta content="" name="'keywords'"]Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee DLCC state legislature Democrats electing Democrats[/]

I guess the meaning of the word “non-partisan” is different in liberal circles verse the real world.

Where is the "push for peace" left?

Apparently, they were all so enthralled watching the Olympics that they all completely missed the Russia/Georgia war that started a few days ago. I guess to get it noticed by the peace loving left, GWB will have to say he will commit troops or some such. It is not like Georgia had a democratically elected government or anything.

I guess the U.N. will pass a proclamation or some thing as well, if they can work up the nerve.

Oh, and before you say it, this is NOT like America and Iraq. There were 12 years of sanctions, talk, resolutions and a coalition of nations in support of that action. This move by Russia is NOT the same thing and you know it.

Nancy Pelosi the Empowerer!

You go GIRL!

While Madame Speaker advises America's daughters to "never draw a line in the sand," she refuses to return to Washington and allow up-or-down votes on Republican energy proposals.

While Madame Speaker advises America's daughters "to defend your position with facts," she has demonstrated blinking ignorance about the price of gas in her own district and the laws of supply and demand.

While Madame Speaker advises America's daughters to "treat one another in a civil way," she has resorted to business-as-usual demagoguery against her ideological opponents. Over the weekend, Pelosi denounced the conservative revolt on the House floor last week -- an objection to the Democrats' five-week recess -- as "a war dance of the handmaidens of the oil companies."

Oh the hypocrisy of it all!

Paris Hilton has a better energy policy than Obama

As Ann alludes to, I read this "ad" as being a number of things. I think it is somewhat funny, it does poke fun at McCain and I think it hits Obama hard. It makes him out to be a bigger air-headed celebrity than Paris. I think it helps McCain and hurts Obama. McCain should work to make sure people know about this.

See more funny videos at Funny or Die

As some of the commenters have posted, if the McCain camp were smart, McCain would say:

  • Since Senator Obama refuses townhall debates, maybe Paris will show up.

  • Mention the spot and comment again on his age.

  • Clarify that he and Paris actually DO have the same energy policy, unlike the other candidate that just wants you to add more "hot air" to your tires.

More stuff like that...

This ad from the McCain camp is not bad either though I think the Moses stuff at the end is a little cheesy.

Feds send man to prison for protecting town from flooding

Before the jury was dismissed to enter into deliberations at the conclusion of his trial, Judge Lynn Winmill instructed the jury, believe it or not, to disregard every bit of information from 1980 to 2002, including the Corps’ denial of jurisdiction and the mandate from local government for Mr. Moses to maintain the flood channel.

Instructed by this notoriously activist judge to ignore facts, reason and legal history, the jury returned with a guilty verdict, finding Mr. Moses guilty of “discharging” “pollutants” into one of the “waters of the United States.”

His conviction ignores the fact that no evidence was ever presented in court that Mr. Moses “discharged” anything into the stream bed at all. He only removed sand and gravel bars that were already there and which he was contractually obligated to remove. He was extracting material from the channel, not discharging material into it.

No evidence was presented in court by the EPA that there was any water at all in the stream bed during those years for Mr. Moses to “discharge” anything into. The EPA claims that “fallback” – material from the bank falling back into the stream bed – represents a “discharge,” but it offers no objective criteria for deciding how much “fallback” it takes to cross the magic threshold, meaning the EPA used sheer speculation to assert a violation.

Obama-nomics

Obama on Friday called for a $1,000 "emergency" rebate to consumers to offset soaring energy costs amid fresh signs of a struggling economy with the nation's unemployment rate climbing to a four-year high.

Obama told a town-hall meeting the rebate would be financed with a windfall profits tax on the oil industry.

So, Barack Obama’s great energy plan is to give consumers a $1000 to help them with the high price of gas and he is going to pay for it by... wait for it… taxing oil companies! What a brilliant idea! So let us see how this will work, shall we? Consumers get their $1000 dollars (nice bit of nation wide welfare, that) and the oil industry is then taxed to pay for it. The oil companies then are forced to raise their consumer prices in order to pay the extra tax resulting in (you guessed it) higher gas prices at the pump.

That could be a new campaign slogan for Obama. “How do you turn $4 a gallon gas into $5 a gallon gas without even trying? You Obama it!”. I hope he was a better lawyer than he is an economist, though that may explain why he is a politician.

Obama-mainia

This DNC ad that is trying to claim that McCain has gone negative...

Seems like just a fancy version of this ad...

And yes I know (at least I strongly hope) the second ad is a joke but that is what makes it good satire, it is a joke but at the same time, very close to the truth about the DNC and a lot of Obama supporters.

What is so amusing about the DNC ad is that the ad quotes liberal sources saying that McCain is attacking without showing any actual McCain attacks. That is like me saying that Clinton lied and then quote AnnCoulter saying he lied when in actuality I would just show the clips of Clinton saying that he did not have sex with that woman and then follow it with the clip of him apologizing for having sex with that woman. See the difference? If they had "proof" of what they say, why not just show it instead of quoting the Times saying it?

I find it amusing how whenever someone has the "nerve" to question a democratic politician as to their fitness for office, their lack of experience, their questionable decisions and associations, it is considered an "attack" but it is perfectly alright and reasonable to call any conservative the most vile things. Obama spent years attending a church that preaches "God damn America" but don't you dare question Obama about it. Obama got his political start with the help of an unrepentant domestic terrorist but that is not important. Obama has involvements with a corrupt organization that has been involved in voter fraud (ACORN) but that is not news, at least not to the MSM.

UN-BRIBE

Like Jimmy Carter, apparently the U.N. as also never met a dictator they didn't like. In this case the U.N. has been sending untold (they don't know how much) amounts of money to Burma for "aid" but of course the U.N. was completely unaware the the local tyrants have been pocketing the cash.

Is Hollywood too timid for the war on terror?

Nice piece in general and he makes some good points, read the whole thing. He does makes a false assumption though with this statement:

You don't have to like President Bush or support our efforts in Iraq to understand the threat of conspirators plotting to kill your children in the name of jihad.

He assumes everyone or mostly everyone agrees with and believes this. Sadly, this is not the case. There are many, a very many people that do not think me, you and your children are in any danger at all from Islamo-fascism, especially if we just leave them alone. That is a fantasy that we just can not afford to let America indulge in. There are scores of schools in the middle east and across the world that are teaching children that America is the great Satan and that to die while killing Americans is the most glorious thing they can do. That kind of hate can not be answered or changed by just leaving them alone. If we do not try to address this issue over there, we will be addressing it right here at home.

Oh give me a break!

This is frigging ridiculous! Now according to our court system, being sexually incapacitated is now going to be a protected disability for the purposes of the ADA. What a crock! The ADA was intended to protect those with "real" disabilities. The sightless, those with hearing problems, mobility issues, etc. Not those with weight, physiological, emotional, substance abuse or sexual problems or issues. As is typical, no good deed goes unpunished and a real attempt to help those in real need of a level playing field in society has been warped and twisted by those with an ax to grind or the desire to wear a "victim" badge. This case should be tossed out as it was the first time but I guess common sense does not rise to appellate-court level.

It is really starting to get crowded around here...

This is the third dwarf planet or plutoid (sorry Pluto) found in our solar system. It sure is getting crowded around here! It is a shame that we are not more "into" space. We should be out there tooling around our solar system. We should have space stations and moon colonies and be on our way to Mars. Instead we are nursing an aging shuttle fleet and working on a global space Motel 6. Shame.

Robin Williams: The Plan

Robin Williams , wearing a shirt that says "I love New York " in Arabic.

You gotta love Robin Williams. Even if he's nuts! Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan. What we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.

Robin Williams ' plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!)

"I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan."

1) "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler , Mussolini , Stalin , Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein , and the rest of those "good 'ole' boys", we will never "interfere" again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea, the Middle East, and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave or we'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them.

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be avail able to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while.

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer.

The Language we speak is ENGLISH..learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan? "The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses." She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?' "

eMail Joke: Question

Q: How many women with MENOPAUSE or PMS, does it take to change a light bulb?

A: One! ONLY ONE!!!! And do you know WHY? Because no one else in this house knows HOW to change a light bulb! They don't even know that the bulb is BURNED OUT!! They would sit in the dark for THREE DAYS before they figured it out. And, once they figured it out, they wouldn't be able to find the #&%!* light bulbs despite the fact that they've been in the SAME CABINET for the past 17 YEARS! But if they did, by some miracle of God, actually find them, 2 DAYS LATER, the chair they dragged to stand on to change the STUPID light bulb would STILL BE IN THE SAME SPOT!! AND UNDERNEATH IT WOULD BE THE WRAPPER THE FREAKING LIGHT BULBS CAME IN!!! BECAUSE NO ONE EVER CARRIES OUT THE GARBAGE!!! IT'S A WONDER WE HAVEN'T ALL SUFFOCATED FROM THE PILES OF GARBAGE THAT ARE A FOOT DEEP THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE!! IT WOULD TAKE AN ARMY TO CLEAN THIS PLACE! AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON WHO CHANGES THE TOILET PAPER ROLL !! I'm sorry. What was the question?

eMail Joke: The Republican Fisherman

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, 'Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am.'

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, 'You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.'

She rolled her eyes and said, 'You must be a Republican.'

'I am,' replied the man. 'How did you know?'

'Well,' answered the balloonist, 'everything you told me is technically correct , but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me.'

The man smiled and responded, 'You must be a Democrat.'

'I am,' replied the balloonist. 'How did you know?'

'Well,' said the man, 'you don't know where you are or where you are going. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but, somehow, now it's my fault.

What were they thinking?

I am not sure if I am more disappointed in the U.N. or in Israel for this. What the AP chooses to call a prisoner swap is in reality an exchange of 5 cold blooded terrorists for 2 dead solders.

The U.N. once again shows its self to be an enemy to freedom and democracy. They helped to broker this Israel/Lebanon exchange that allowed the release of 5 terrorists in exchange for the bodies of two dead Israeli solders. They also hope to broker more swaps in the future. I am sure that they do. The more terrorists that they can get Israel to release, the more that are available to terrorize Israeli civilians. I believe one of the 5 terrorists released was this "hero".

It has been reported that According to Israeli officials, the bodies were received in a severely-damaged state

Additionally an Israeli official stated "the verification process yesterday was very slow, because, if we thought the enemy was cruel to the living and the dead, we were surprised, when we opened the caskets, to discover just how cruel. And I'll leave it at that."

I won't hold my breath waiting for the U.N. to condemn Lebanon for how the solders were treated both before and after they were killed.

As has been said before, with friends like this, who needs enemies.

How do the Democrats address gas prices?

Why they propose solutions that they know will not work and/or will not help while claiming to be doing their part.

In fact, the Dems' cobbled-together statute won't generate a single barrel of new oil production. It contains a series of provisions that add nothing to existing law or existing energy production capabilities.

Typical.

Another example of "consequence free" confrontation

It is so easy to poke the bear when you know the bear will absolutely not bite you, when you are guaranteed to be able to get away with it. There is no "speaking truth to power" in that. Just opportunism and to a degree cowardice. It is easy to demonstrate where demonstrating is free. It is quite different to demonstrate about real issues in places where there is a real cost to dissection. That guy in Tiananmen Square was protesting. He was putting it all on the line for what he believed in. Quite the contrast from these people who protest against the issue du jour while risking nothing.

One man's terrorist is another man's hero...

What the Times describes as a kidnapping raid that "went horribly wrong" seems to be anything but.

Perhaps Israel’s most reviled prisoner, Samir Kuntar, will return to a hero’s welcome when he crosses into Lebanon this week, 29 years after he left its shores in a rubber dinghy to kidnap Israelis from the coastal town of Nahariya. That raid went horribly wrong, leaving five people dead, a community terrorized and a nation traumatized. Two Israeli children and their father were among those killed.

Out of 21 paragraphs in this story at least half are used to explain poor little Kuntar's background. His life and upbringing. No paragraphs describe the life and upbringing of the Israelis he murdered. The Times does not discuss the short life of the 4 year old girl who's head he smashed in with a rifle nor do they spend any time describing the girl's father who they shot before her eyes (just before killing her). They don't spend any time mentioning the dead man's other daughter who died as a result of the raid (she was accidentally smothered by the girl's mother while in hiding for their lives). I guess that "background" information is irrelevant to the story of this poor courageous man, this hero.

There is also this gem.

But much of Lebanon, its Shiite majority in particular, regards Mr. Kuntar as a courageous fighter who has sacrificed much of his life in the nation’s struggle against Israel.

Yes indeed. Mr Kuntar is quite the courageous fighter shooting an unarmed father in front of his 4 year old daughter and then crushing her skull killing her. What a man! That others in Lebanon celebrate this man speaks volumes about those in Lebanon as a people and as a society.

I also like how the Times chooses to describe the other terrorists that were killed in the raid "his colleagues". Colleagues, as though they were all members of the same chess club or something instead of cold blooded, murdering terrorists.

Mrs. Kuntar (the terrorist's mother) turns defensive when asked about the child. “Certainly, it bothers me,” she said in the 2006 interview. “She wasn’t guilty of anything.”

Well there you are wrong Mrs. Kuntar, she (and her father) were guilty, guilty of just being Jewish and for many Arabs, that is all it takes to justify their deaths.

Visitors

We had some company unexpectedly drop in around 6:30 last night. They only stayed an hour or so but did make quite the impression. They have visited before but usually only after midnight.

No news here...

It seems that the Chicago Tribune does not deem a pro-gun rally that was attended by 500 or more citizens news worthy. Wonder why? Could it be that in the minds of the editors of the Chicago Tribune, a peaceful, pro-gun rally in Chicago (especially in light of the recent supreme court decision on D.C.'s ban) is not something they can politically support and as such is not news?

Suzanna Hupp did make a comment about the press: (loosely quoted from memory) “that they would search the crowd looking for 1 overweight man wearing camouflage, missing half his teeth and put him on the evening news rambling like a mad man.”

I attended a pro-gun rally in Richmond VA many years ago. It was downtown, which at that time was all corporate and all suits. A friend and I watched a local news crew work their way through the crowd bypassing person after person until they found someone dressed in fatigues. They must have walked past 100 people until they found the "type" they were looking for. Later on the news I saw that they even framed the shot so as to be looking away from the crowd so as to not show that 99% of the attendees were suited men and woman.

As a commenter noted: "When Jessie Jackson buses in 200 people, it gets on the front page for days." but there is no agenda here.

The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism

This is a presentation by Dr. Andrew Bostom where he discusses antisemitism and his book. The video is 2 hours long but well worth watching.

Dr. Bostom makes it crystal clear that Islamic antisemitism is contrary to popular belief, not a new invention but instead is a fundamental part of Islam and the Koran.

The new "black list"

While it is true that the ratio of Obama-to-McCain bumper stickers in West L.A. is about 250-to-1, there are untold closet Republicans in the entertainment industry who dare not advertise their beliefs in movie studio parking lots. (Unfortunately, car keying is a tactic wielded liberally by the self-described "tolerant.")

Sanity strikes again!

The World Health Organisation and the European Union have allowed Uganda to spray DDT to kill mosquitoes (that spread malaria).

About time! The number of people (children included) that the environmental movement has killed as a result of their unwarranted crusade against DDT is a crime of the highest nature. It is estimated that 2.7 million people die each year of malaria, mainly among children under five years old. The fact that it is still difficult to make use of DDT to help save lives even after all this time is another travesty of emotion over reason.

Rachel Carson started the movement against DDT with her book Silent Spring (released in 1962). In this book, she misrepresented and/or ignored the science done on DDT to support her stance that DDT affected the reproductive cycle of birds. Another fine example of environmental facts in action.

The Untold Story of Gun Confiscation After Katrina

With guns we are citizens without them we are subjects.

Schooling Wesley Clark

I do not approve of or agree with everything that McCain the politician did or is doing but he has shown himself capable of the most honorable of things under the most trying of circumstances.

Clark's statement just further highlighted the difference between McCain and Obama. McCain did things. It appears that time and again, Obama just showed up.

NYT; France TV 2 al-Dura lie "not a story"

As noted in the article, the NTY spend plenty of time pushing the al-Dura story when it thought the story true, that Israel forces killed a 12 year old boy. It appears that this story has been proved to be a lie in French court but no word of that a the Times. What gives NTY, this does not count as news?

More Dallas County idiocy...

Racial hyper-sensitivity, the gift that keeps on giving!

Apparently, along with astronomical phenomena, “devil’s food cake” is a racist terms too, as well as "black sheep". What will be the next item on the list? Will we have to change 'being in the "black"' to something else?

Also, I have not heard if the commissioner has yet apologised for his clearly racial "white hole" comment but then again, he is black and according to some, African-Americans can not be racists.

Muslim Woman Protests X-Ray Specs

Via Protein Wisdom.

It would seem to me that a far safer, more equitable solution here is to have a separate scanner for women only, staffed by women. This way, the same "tight" security can be maintained but the local sensibilities can be respected. Which is more invasive? Having your revealing scan seen by another woman or being physically patted down and intimately touched by a woman?

Is New York City the new California?

"ban-happy busybodies" is putting it kindly...

This is a nation wide phenomenon and it only seems to be getting worse. Don't worry though, it is all done to "protect" us, oh and "for the children".

ACORN in the news again!

Acorn chose to treat the embezzlement of nearly $1 million eight years ago as an internal matter and did not even notify its board.

Acorn was also a former client of Obama and that Obama helped train Acorn staffers. And while the paper identifies Acorn as an “antipoverty” group, it is also frequently involved in scandal-ridden voter registration drives. Both Obama and Acorn joined briefs urging the Supreme Court to overturn Indiana’s voter ID law. Acorn’s national political arm has endorsed Obama, even as its ”non-partisan” wing gears up for another round of registration drives.

In Dallas County, celestial events are now racist!

I kid you not. In a county commissioner's meeting, one commissioner said it seemed that central collections "has become a black hole" because paperwork reportedly has become lost in the office.

To which another (black) commissioner John Wiley Price, interrupted him with "Excuse me!" He then corrected his colleague, saying the office has become a "white hole."

That prompted Judge Thomas Jones, who is black, to demand an apology from Mayfield for his racially insensitive analogy.

So, at this point, in Dallas County at least, a collapsed star that has gravity so strong that light can not even escape, is racist. You can't make this stuff up!

The article does not say if John Price ever apologized for his racially insensitive and racially motivated remark. Somehow, I don't think so.

Poor little old librarian...

Is kicked out of a John McCain town hall meeting for NO reason! The brutes!

But wait, there is more! It turns out that the poor little old librarian is really a former reporter and is a member of the Progress Now network. Progress Now if you will recall is linked to MoveOn.org and funded by George Soros. I would not hold my breath waiting for the nightly news to include this extra information.

Some little old lady librarian she turned out to be...

San Francisco group want George W. Bush Sewage Plant

So a group in San Francisco wants to rename a sewage treatment plant after President Bush. If that is the case, I guess it would only be fair to name a women's abuse center after former President Clinton and a mental facility after former President Carter.

No good deed ever goes unpunished, #2

Not commenting on how bright the parents were for letting this "person" stay with them and the article does not make it clear if they knew of his status but the result of their kindness is unmistakable.

A family known to Conway was nice enough to let him stay with them beginning about a month ago. This family has at least one child - a fourteen-year-old girl.

The father came home about 3a.m. on Saturday morning and found both his child and Conway gone. He called police because not only were they gone it did not look as though his daughter went along willingly.

Conway’s slipper was found in his daughter’s bedroom, her blanket was found outside the house and her bracelet was on the ground and looked as if it had been ripped from her wrist.

So this dumbass drives by the house at about 6a.m. while the police were there investigating. He takes off and they chase his car for about a block until he crashes into a truck with a family inside. He then jumps out of the car and tries to run. He fought with the police and they had to taser him.

So the police pop the trunk of the car and find the girl inside. Just to be on the safe side paramedics airlifted her to UC Davis Medical Center. They were concerned she had a spinal injury.

Conway is facing at the minimum charges of kidnapping, fleeing the scene of an accident, resisting arrest, and assault on a police officer.

So much for giving someone a helping hand. We can only hope that their daughter is OK.

Obama, Change he can believe in

This is actually a pretty good spot...

Food Police in Colorado

This has to be read to be believed. The DNC food guidelines for the convention.

I love the last item on the list:

Encourage staff to use alternative modes of transportation

But of course. Encourage the STAFF to use alternative modes of transportation. Alternative to what? Does not make clear but of course the term "alternative modes of transportation" is code for mass transit. This is also, as noted in the guidelines for "staff". Does not say if the actual delegates will be encouraged to use alternative modes of transportation but somehow I doubt it.

Proper gun control

Is this really so much a 2nd amendment issue? It is a Wisconsin law but I think as stated, it is a but ambiguous as to the pistol in question.

Rep. Laura Richardson, the gift that keeps on giving

It seems that Rep Richardson can do more than just default on mortgages and loose a home to foreclosure, she can also sell you a home. This would seem to indicate that she had more than the average understanding of the details of home purchase and financing and should have been able to understand the contracts she was signing when purchasing the home she lost and mortgage she defaulted on.

You get the government you deserve. Let us see if her district deserves no better than she.

As an interesting side note, the Press-Telegram was able to discover that Richardson is a Democrat. They loose points as they are a local paper but the LA Times is much bigger and has all those layers of fact checkers working for them so they loose points too.

Another traitor in our midst

Now it seems that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Congressman James McGovern were in communications with FARC who have been designated as a terrorist group by the US government. What is it with Democrats and working with the enemies of freedom globally and this country specifically?

More prison guards desecrate the Koran

I doubt that you will hear about it on NBC, ABC, CBS or CNN as it did not take place in Gitmo by U.S. personnel (unlike that fake story that appeared in Newsweek). Instead this incident took place in a Syrian prison. As others have pointed out, since this incident took place in the middle-east and can not be linked back to the Great Satan (the good old U.S. of A.) then it is mostly a non-issue and nothing to get too worked up over either here or in the middle-east.

Thief alerts police to 'Terror' van

He may be a thief but he is still human. There is no online follow-up to explain details of the van bomb, if it was "real' and what damage it could have caused. Hopefully the thief will take this opportunity (both lack of charges filed and good publicity) to turn his life around and walk away from his criminal tendencies.

The thief took a big chance moving the van. It could have been booby-trapped to go off when started but there is no telling how many lives he might have saved by "stealing" it away to a safer location.

It was originally parked near a Muslim school. Was that the van's source or potential target? Neither would be good.

Lawn Chair Flying

Looks like a fun way to spend the day. Glad to see he was greeted with friendly town's folks and not police and FAA.

Myth Busters will need to take a second look as they did an episode on lifting a lawn chair with balloons and if I remember correctly, they called it busted. They used standard sized balloons whereas this fellow used large ones. Could make all the difference as there would be less balloon to lift weight by going with the larger balloons.

Just great, now there will be a run on watermelon!

Found in the flesh and rind of watermelons, citrulline reacts with the body's enzymes when consumed in large quantities and is changed into arginine, an amino acid that benefits the heart and the circulatory and immune systems.

"Arginine boosts nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels, the same basic effect that Viagra has, to treat erectile dysfunction and maybe even prevent it," said Bhimu Patil, a researcher and director of Texas A&M's Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Center. "Watermelon may not be as organ-specific as Viagra, but it's a great way to relax blood vessels without any drug side effects."

Fred Thompson at NRLF

There has been a lot of talk about the need for change in this country. That is Senator Obama’s mantra, of course. And all of the commentators say, “It is a change election.” Well, I can understand why the call for change is so powerful considering the pitiful condition that our country is in.

We simply have the most prosperous, freest and strongest country in the history of the world. So we can understand why liberal politicians and their supporters see the need for great change.

I wish Fred wanted to be president more and sooner. I would much prefer being able to vote for him than any one of the current candidates.

Let's play "Name that Party"...

This LA Times article discusses much about Long Beach Rep. Laura Richardson and her issues with a mortgage she has defaulted on, a home she lost to foreclosure, her troubles with a car lease (the most expensive lease of any member of the House of Representatives), at least one unpaid parking ticket and other troubles.

What the article does not choose to disclose is Richardson's party affiliation. Fortunately for you, I have access to a research tool that apparently is not yet available to LA Times reporters, Google. A quick search turns up the fact that Richardson is a, wait for it, Democrat.

Rush Limbaugh's platform

1. Open the continental shelf to drilling. Ditto the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
2. Establish a 17 percent flat tax.
3. Privatize Social Security.
4. Give parents school vouchers to break the monopoly of public education.
5. Revoke Jimmy Carter’s passport while he is out of the country.
6. Abandon all government policies based on the hoax of man-made global warming.

I would fully support #1, #3, #4, #6. I would replace #2 with the FairTax (which I think is a better answer). I think #5 is not only a stellar idea but long over due. The man was an abysmal president and has managed to out do even that by being an even more abysmal former president. He seems to have never met a dictator he hasn't liked. He is far more effective at building houses than he is at international affairs.

Obama, AmeriCorps and ACORN

So Obama would like to double the size of his liberal activists army to 250,000. That would give him quite the domestic army of foot solders to push any/every liberal agenda. Some of the "good works" that AmeriCorps has done to date include:

- gone door to door to recruit people for food stamps
- recruiting middle-class families to accept subsidized federal health insurance for their children
- bankrolled the Welfare Rights Organizing Coalition
- helped run a program that gave children $5 for each toy gun they brought in
- put on a puppet show to warn four-year-olds of the dangers of earthquakes
- busied themselves foisting unreliable “ultra-low-flush toilets” on poor people

In addition there are disturbing ties between AmeriCorps and ACORN. ACORN claims to be an “antipoverty” group but have been known to get caught up in voter registration fraud.

John McCain also has supported expanding AmeriCorps but he does not have the level of involvement that Obama would have nor the ties to ACORN

Cougars on the prowl?

All hunters know, you go where the prey are...

The article does not say but I am curious about the ages of the women and men involved. Is it older women hitting on younger men or is age not a factor?

Just a politician

I can't feign outrage over Barack Obama using his position as a new U.S. Senator to help secure a lower rate on a loan for The Home That Resko Built Helped Cut a Deal On.

Barack Obama did precisely what every other politician does, and nothing more.

Yep, just what every other politician does. We should expect no better from the man running for PRESIDENT cause, you know, he is just a politician.

Oh the cynicism. So much for change "we can believe in"...

Indeed, where is the "First"?

Thanks a lot John! You stepped in it big the first time around, trying to ram amnesty down our throats and here you are back-peddling on security first in order to score points with people that CAN'T EVEN VOTE while giving those of us that can ACTUALLY VOTE a big thumb in the eye. And you wonder why you are suspect by the GOP base...

Obama and the company he keeps

With friends like these (and others like Father Pfleger and Reverend Wright), America does not need enemies. Would a Precedent Obama let them sleep in the Lincoln bedroom?

The Left, as you know, favors democracy ... except when it doesn’t

The key to defeating the initiative is to keep it off the ballot in the first place. That's the only way we're going to win.

Indeed, all that power to the people rhetoric is all well and good for fund raisers and as long as it is used to support an agenda that they (the left) approve of cause well they do know what is best and all.

Double-Speak

Why it would be difficult to "swift boat" McCain

For this to be a "Swift Boating," people who stayed at the Hanoi Hilton would have to say that McCain was lying about what he did there -- or perhaps that his repeated claims that events there were "seared, seared" in his memory are false, and he was never actually there at all -- and those people would have to be telling the truth.

And I don't think that is likely to happen...

As the liberal playbook instructs, the left must now try to dig up any dirt that they can against McCain and claim that they are just doing what the "swift boat" guys did to Kerry, all the while ignoring the fact that what the Swift Boat guys did was tell the truth about Kerry's lies whereas what the left is doing is either twisting the truth or making things up. The Swift Boat guys used Kerry's own lies and actions against him and rightfully so whereas the left is just trying to slander McCain. Yet another example of leftest double-speak.

More Democrats verses Republicans

This could almost be a game show or something, pointing out all of the instances of Democrats saying one thing but doing another and than showing Republicans just doing the right thing.

This latest example involved Barack Obama and John McCain. Barack talks a good game on equal pay but pays his female staff less then the boys whereas McCain actually pays the females on his staff better. It also does not hurt that he has more senior women on his staff where as Obama has maybe one senior woman on his staff. So much for diversity...

It is also pretty funny that Obama has more total staff then McCain and has managed to accomplish so much less. What does he do with the extra staff? I wonder if his female staff will be getting raises by the end of the week.

It does not appear to matter if the Democrat is Obama, Franken or Gore. They all seem to have the same play book, do as I say not as I do.

You mean to say substance matters?

To some at least...

For those voters, especially ones without college degrees, the fact that Sen. Obama is black may not be as much a disqualifier as his background as a Democrat from the Frost Belt with no national security or executive experience and a voting record judged by the nonpartisan National Journal as the Senate’s most liberal during 2007.

Wesley Clark

From one of my favorite articles, a profile of Clark: "Interviews with a wide variety of current and retired military officials reveal that Clark was disliked by only three groups: Those whom ranked above him in the chain of command whom he ignored, his peers at the same rank whom he lied to, and those serving beneath him whom he micromanaged. Other than that, everyone liked him."

Ba da bing

The Saddest Thing About Barack Obama's Available Military Expertise...

...is that though he has Wes Clark in his corner, the only person he knows with the experience of getting a bomb on target is Bill Ayers.

eMail Joke: 2 Ways To Look At Things

My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby table.

My wife asks, "Do you know her?"

"Yes," I sighed, "she's my old girlfriend. I understand she took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since."

"My God!" says my wife, "Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?"

So you see, there really are 2 ways to look at everything.

Short term thinking

All of these examples are of the same type. Doing something in time to alleviate the problem results in the current situation never occurring and as such, there would have been no proof that it was the right decision. If we had started drilling for more oil in the places we can not today and as such oil prices did not get so high, no one would be given any credit for heading off a crisis. Instead we would be hearing about how we are destroying the wilderness for no good reason (not that environmentalists ever think there is a good reason).

It is like 9/11. Bush did something that a lot of people don't like and there has been no follow-on to 9/11 like what was expected but he gets no credit from the major quarters because "nothing has happened". On the other hand, had he done nothing and we had repeat attacks everyone would be yelling about how ineffective he is, which would have been true. Instead, he did do something and all is quite on the home front and he gets beat up for it.

Sanity and common sense in action

Judge Advises Crime Victim To Arm Herself After Attack Moon Says No Longer Possible For Police To Protect Citizens

As the (not so) old saying goes, "when seconds matter, the police are only minutes away".

The police no longer serve as much of a crime deterrent. There is no "cop on the beat" anymore. The police respond to incidents, they don't preempt much crime. Your protection is up to you.

No ice at the North Pole

Asinine article but a lot of really good comments.

This article is a travesty full of alarmist talk and poor research. It discusses the shrinking of the Arctic ice and blames the reduction of ice on global warming even though the recent year to year temperature evidence shows the earth is actually going through a cooling cycle. The article also completely ignores the recent evidence of active under water volcanoes in the Arctic that could easily account for the warmer water and ice reduction.

As one of the other commenters pointed out, Greenland did not get its name because everyone thought it would be a good joke. It used to be VERY green. It has been warm there before and it will be warm there again.

Another traitor in our midst

Scroll down and watch the video. Here is a representative of our country telling a witness in front of all the world that he (Bill Delahunt of Massachusetts) is glad that al Qaeda is watching and getting a chance to see the witness. Would it surprise you to know that Bill is a Democrat? It does not surprise me.

As John says "In a sane world, this would be a scandal..."

Well this world seems less and less sane all the time.

Coulter strikes oil

Liberals complain that -- as B. Hussein Obama put it -- there's "no way that allowing offshore drilling would lower gas prices right now. At best you are looking at five years or more down the road."

And where will we be five years from now if we don't start drilling?

Six long years ago President Bush had the foresight to demand that Congress allow drilling in a minuscule portion of the Alaska's barren, uninhabitable Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). In 2002, Bush, Tom DeLay and the entire Republican Party were screaming from the rooftops: Drill! Drill! Drill!

We'd be gushing oil now -- except the Democrats stopped us from drilling.

It is funny how no one, media included remembers that fight or maybe it is not so much funny as collective liberal/media amnesia.

Guns are a feminist issue

I have to say I agree with Megan on this one and do not understand why NOW does not come down on the side of the 2nd Amendment for the sake of women. This is not a liberal/conservative issue but a self protection issue. On average, a woman will come out on the short-end in a straight up physical fight with a man. On average a man is bigger, stronger, has more upper body strength and is heavier. A handgun is just about the ideal equalizer in a fight and allows for a woman to not only protect her selves but protect her self at a distance. The best way to survive a physical confrontation is to never let it get to that point. Finally, despite what you might have read it the news papers, a person is NOT more likely to be injured or killed with their own firearm.

The fact that NOW is not pro-2nd amendment is just additional evidence that they are not a woman's rights group anymore but just a liberal political group.

Dr. NObama of energy

As Power Line notes: What Obama really stands for is managed decline--a government-supervised lowering of Americans' standards of living. (That would be your standard of living, of course, not his.) In this, he is Jimmy Carter redux.

Obama appears to be against anything that has a real chance of helping with this country's energy needs or with anything that might help reduce the consumer cost of gas. I still want one of these to get completely off the grid.

Some high-court sanity at last!

So it seems that 5 out of nine justices on the Supreme Court upheld the 2nd amendment right of the people to keep and bare arms. This is all very well and good and I am glad that it worked out this way. My question is how could 4 out of nine conclude that this was not the case? It says so right in the amendment and yet 4 out of the nine best(?) judges in the country could not plainly see this? I think this says a lot more about the politics of the court than of the legal interpretations of the case at hand.

Justice for victims of the U.N.?

Yet another example in a long string of such, showing the U.N. to be a morally and financially corrupt organization that has long since lost its direction and focus (if it ever really had any to begin with).

At Sbrenica, Dutch forces, operating as UN "peacekeepers" lured Bosniacs into areas which were claimed to be safe havens, disarmed the Bosniacs, and promised that the UN peacekeepers would protect the disarmed Bosniacs. When Serbs attacked, the Dutch peacekeepers (unlike peacekeepers guarding some other safe havens) fled, leaving the Bosniacs to be murdered.

It seems that U.N. "peacekeepers" are either running in fear, abandoning those they are supposed to protect or they are trafficking in child sex and slavery. When are we going to stop giving this group money?

Dog bites man, again

Israel closes Gaza crossings after rocket fire
Day of violence presents cease-fire with its first serious test

Palestinians violating a cease-fire truce, what a shocker...

Guess what party...

A debate on a Massachusetts version of Jessica's Law resulted in the following:

Rep. Fagan, a defense attorney, infuriated victims’ rights advocates during a recent House debate when he said he would “rip apart” 6-year-old victims on the witness stand and “make sure the rest of their life is ruined.”

In a fiery soliloquy on the House floor, Fagan said he’d grill victims so that, “when they’re 8 years old they throw up; when they’re 12 years old, they won’t sleep; when they’re 19 years old, they’ll have nightmares and they’ll never have a relationship with anybody.”

Not once in the article did they state Fagan's party affiliation even though the party of Karyn Polito is mentioned. Karyn is the only other politician directly named in this article.

With a quick Google search I was able to turned up what the Boston Herald wasn't. I was also able to discover his full name. James H. Fagan, Party Affiliation - Democrat.

Every vote must count!

Even zombie votes! Apparently there are over 8,550 dead peaple still elajable to vote in Connecticut. In one extream case, a dead person has voted 17 times since leaving the land of the living.

Even with all of these facts in place, some still cling to the idea that there is no evidence of any election fraud.

Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz is adamant that “actually no dead people voted.”

“I want to be very clear about that,” she said, explaining that while votes were cast and counted in the names of the dead, “there was no voter fraud at all in the state of Connecticut.”

Officials elsewhere have confirmed other cases in which dead people appear to have voted.

In Washington State, Republican Dino Rossi ran for governor in 2004, and lost by only 133 votes. Officials confirmed that the names of 19 dead people somehow cast ballots.

I am willing to bet big money that the dead lean heavily democratic and as such is "no big deal" and in fact would explain much of the Democrats willingness to fight against any and all voter ID laws.

Barack Obama's plan to destroy America

It is unbelievable that he would say these things. It would be ludicrous if it were not so serious. This is the person that the left has selected to be the most powerful person in the world?

I have to wonder, does he sleep at night, in his house with his wife and children with the doors and windows unlocked and open? Does he have a sign in his front yard that says "no guns here"? I don't think so. So why does he want to do that to the entire country?

What was new is now old...

Sorry but this is just too funny! Bill Clinton complaining about MSM bias! His entire presidency was one big media love fest that he worked like a master conductor to the detriment of everyone and every thing that stood in the way of him and his wife. Now that the media has moved on the new and shiny and is treating him and Hillary like they treated EVERYONE ELSE, he gets a bit snitty. Just too funny!

Dancing microrobots waltz on the head of a pin

Cool...

Follow the link at the start of the third paragraph. They have a number of movies depicting animations as well as actual device activity. Sweet!

The Community Based Reality

Paranoia strikes deep...

"One fourth of the population is retarded"

As a side note and it is hinted at, toward the end of the clip, a reporter talks about Obama getting a "fair shake" from red states during the primary, those are their people, their party. The Democrats always push the mime about conservatives and republicans being raciest but this entire primary season it has been Democrats voting for or against Obama, Democrats answering exit poles and Democrats worrying about if he is "black enough" or "too black". Not Republicans or conservatives. That fact just does not seem to be able to register with the MSM or they are willfully ignoring it?

Woman Calls Orem Police To Free Her From Her Locked Car

You have to love the headline over the accompanying photograph: "Trapped by Technology". No, I don't think so. I think a more appropriate title would have been "Trapped by stupidity!"

This sounds like the old joke where the man had to break his car window from the inside because he left his keys in the lock...

British man prevented from unlawfully detaining John Bolton

Yes, I know that was not the headline of the actual article but it appears from reading the article that it would be closer to the true of the matter than the actual headline is.

Shame that George Monbiot could not be arrested for attempted kidnapping.

eMail Joke: Oil Shortage

A lot of folks can't understand how we came to have an oil shortage here in our country.

Well, there's a very simple answer. Nobody bothered to check the oil.

We just didn't know we were getting low. The reason for that is purely geographical. Our OIL is located in: Alaska, California, Coastal Florida, Coastal Louisiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas.

Our DIPSTICKS are located in Washington , DC!!!

Any Questions??? NO? Didn't think So.

eMail Joke:$50 is $50

Morris and his wife Esther went to the state fair every year, and every year Morris would say, 'Esther,I'd like to ride in that helicopter.'

Esther always replied, 'I know Morris, but that helicopter ride is fifty dollars, and fifty dollars is fifty dollars.'

One year Esther and Morris went to the fair, and Morris said, 'Esther, I'm 85 years old. If I don't ride that helicopter, I might never get another chance.'

To this, Esther replied, 'Morris that helicopter ride is fifty dollars, and fifty dollars is fifty dollars.'

The pilot overheard the couple and said, 'Folks I'll make you a deal. I'll take the both of you for a ride. If you can stay quiet for the entire ride and don't say a word I won't charge you a penny! But if you say one word it's fifty dollars.'

Morris and Esther agreed and up they went.

The pilot did all kinds of fancy maneuvers, but not a word was heard. He did his daredevil tricks over and over again, but still not a word. When they landed, the pilot turned to Morris and said, 'By golly, I did everything I could to get you to yell out, but you didn't. I'm impressed!'

Morris replied, 'Well, to tell you the truth, I almost said something when Esther fell out, but you know, fifty dollars is fifty dollars!'

Have Fun Storming The Castle!

Completely unbelievable that a) these people have such short and/or selective memories or b) that they think the rest of the country does.

Thanks for NOTHING, Sen. Feinstein

Now, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) has attached the perennial AgJOBS amnesty to the must-pass Iraq War appropriations bill. This was part of the “comprehensive” amnesty bill. She is carrying water for those in the agriculture sector who wantonly hire illegal aliens.

Illegals receive immunity for any Social Security fraud if they worked under a fake or stolen Social Security number. They’d get their own SSN. They don’t have to pay any back taxes owed on illegal employment.

Feinstein prohibits Homeland Security from using any information illegals provide on their legalization application for law enforcement. So, AgJOBS gives lawbreakers (illegal aliens and agricultural employers) immunity from past lawbreaking.

With friends like these, who needs enemies!

One small win for the good guys

Now it is time for France 2 to acknowledge that it created and is continuing to perpetuate the worst anti-Semitic libel of our era.

Though I would not hold my breath if I were you...

Man bites dog, hard!

About time too! The MSM has been getting away with playing their own version of the truth for too long. It has been a very long time since any of the major news outlets reported "just the facts" and it is refreshing to see the White House hit back once in a while.

We deserve a "fair and balanced" media and we just don't have even close to that in this day and age.

Shame on Google!

So much for "do no evil" eh?

So what was this horrible thing that caused Google to feel compelled to rat the man out to authorities? It seems he posted "content in vulgar language about Sonia Gandhi".

And for this heinous crime (thank the stars that Google was able to help in his apprehension) he could be "imprisoned for up to five years and may have to pay a fine up to Rs one lakh."

Thank you Google, thank you for protecting us all from such a vial and disgusting person! Thanks for making the world a safer place!

Harvard and the Military

Good article and worth the read. I am afraid though that its sentiments will fall on deaf ears. The left is all for respecting diversity as long as it is their diversity that you are respecting. Just like the left is all for free speech as long as it is their free speech. The left is all for inalienable rights as long as it is the ones they approve of.

Harvard is all about making a "statement" and kicking ROTC off of campus but they still seem fairly eager to continue to accept take Federal funds.

Typical lefty hypocrites.

I expect that Drew Faust won't take the offered advice and will choose to use this event as a political platform and I also expect that any media coverage will gush about her courage "speaking truth to power" and I unfortunately, I don't expect to be disappointed...

MythBusters: Electric vs. Gas Go-Karts

Very interesting but as some of the posters noted, I can re-fill my go-kart gas tank in under a minute and be back on the track racing whereas I need hours to fully charge my electric model.

I fly electric RC helicopters that utilize LiPo batteries and always have at least 2 sets so one can charge while the other is in use. That is currently expensive enough when talking 18v but would be prohibitive when talking 110v and high amps.

Electric will still only be marginally better than gas until we can get more nuclear power plants constructed. When we covert the grid over to non-fossil fuels then swapping EVs in place of ICEs make sense. Until then, even with the economy of scale, you are producing a lot of "residue" for each kilowatt.

I would rather just have one of these in my basement...

Its all about tolerance

The money line is: If she had written a story about a charter school illegally giving instructions in the Catholic or Mormon faith, these same journalists would have nominated her for an award.

This is so true. Not only would she get an award but the ACLU would be suing and the school would be swamped with reporters. Instead she is being attacked by both the school, local politicians and her peers. I guess her crime is being intolerant of their intolerance.

Just say NO to the U.N.

These folks did and you can too!

Speeding for me but not for thee...

Of those citations, 76 were dismissed after supervisors determined that officers were responding to calls or had other valid reasons to exceed the speed limit.

Pardon me but I would like a list of what those "other valid reasons" to exceed the posted limit are. You are either on a call or you are not. If not, than you should follow all of the rules of the road just like everyone else has to.

I also love this part:

The officers are following the advice of their union, which says the citations are issued not to the driver but to the vehicle's owner -- in this case, the county.

These are the very same people that rightly criticize defense lawyers for using legal maneuverings to help their clients escape justice and here they are doing the same thing.

Human Statue of Liberty

This is a human Statue of Liberty made up of ~18,000 soldiers. This picture was taken in 1918 at Camp Dodge in Iowa.
