This could almost be a game show or something, pointing out all of the instances of Democrats saying one thing but doing another and than showing Republicans just doing the right thing.
This latest example involved Barack Obama and John McCain. Barack talks a good game on equal pay but pays his female staff less then the boys whereas McCain actually pays the females on his staff better. It also does not hurt that he has more senior women on his staff where as Obama has maybe one senior woman on his staff. So much for diversity...
It is also pretty funny that Obama has more total staff then McCain and has managed to accomplish so much less. What does he do with the extra staff? I wonder if his female staff will be getting raises by the end of the week.
It does not appear to matter if the Democrat is Obama, Franken or Gore. They all seem to have the same play book, do as I say not as I do.

You mean to say substance matters?
To some at least...
For those voters, especially ones without college degrees, the fact that Sen. Obama is black may not be as much a disqualifier as his background as a Democrat from the Frost Belt with no national security or executive experience and a voting record judged by the nonpartisan National Journal as the Senate’s most liberal during 2007.

Wesley Clark
From one of my favorite articles, a profile of Clark: "Interviews with a wide variety of current and retired military officials reveal that Clark was disliked by only three groups: Those whom ranked above him in the chain of command whom he ignored, his peers at the same rank whom he lied to, and those serving beneath him whom he micromanaged. Other than that, everyone liked him."

eMail Joke: 2 Ways To Look At Things
My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby table.
My wife asks, "Do you know her?"
"Yes," I sighed, "she's my old girlfriend. I understand she took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since."
"My God!" says my wife, "Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?"
So you see, there really are 2 ways to look at everything.

Short term thinking
All of these examples are of the same type. Doing something in time to alleviate the problem results in the current situation never occurring and as such, there would have been no proof that it was the right decision. If we had started drilling for more oil in the places we can not today and as such oil prices did not get so high, no one would be given any credit for heading off a crisis. Instead we would be hearing about how we are destroying the wilderness for no good reason (not that environmentalists ever think there is a good reason).
It is like 9/11. Bush did something that a lot of people don't like and there has been no follow-on to 9/11 like what was expected but he gets no credit from the major quarters because "nothing has happened". On the other hand, had he done nothing and we had repeat attacks everyone would be yelling about how ineffective he is, which would have been true. Instead, he did do something and all is quite on the home front and he gets beat up for it.

Judge Advises Crime Victim To Arm Herself After Attack Moon Says No Longer Possible For Police To Protect Citizens
As the (not so) old saying goes, "when seconds matter, the police are only minutes away".
The police no longer serve as much of a crime deterrent. There is no "cop on the beat" anymore. The police respond to incidents, they don't preempt much crime. Your protection is up to you.

No ice at the North Pole
Asinine article but a lot of really good comments.
This article is a travesty full of alarmist talk and poor research. It discusses the shrinking of the Arctic ice and blames the reduction of ice on global warming even though the recent year to year temperature evidence shows the earth is actually going through a cooling cycle. The article also completely ignores the recent evidence of active under water volcanoes in the Arctic that could easily account for the warmer water and ice reduction.
As one of the other commenters pointed out, Greenland did not get its name because everyone thought it would be a good joke. It used to be VERY green. It has been warm there before and it will be warm there again.

Another traitor in our midst
Scroll down and watch the video. Here is a representative of our country telling a witness in front of all the world that he (Bill Delahunt of Massachusetts) is glad that al Qaeda is watching and getting a chance to see the witness. Would it surprise you to know that Bill is a Democrat? It does not surprise me.

Coulter strikes oil
Liberals complain that -- as B. Hussein Obama put it -- there's "no way that allowing offshore drilling would lower gas prices right now. At best you are looking at five years or more down the road."
And where will we be five years from now if we don't start drilling?
Six long years ago President Bush had the foresight to demand that Congress allow drilling in a minuscule portion of the Alaska's barren, uninhabitable Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). In 2002, Bush, Tom DeLay and the entire Republican Party were screaming from the rooftops: Drill! Drill! Drill!
We'd be gushing oil now -- except the Democrats stopped us from drilling.
It is funny how no one, media included remembers that fight or maybe it is not so much funny as collective liberal/media amnesia.

Guns are a feminist issue
I have to say I agree with Megan on this one and do not understand why NOW does not come down on the side of the 2nd Amendment for the sake of women. This is not a liberal/conservative issue but a self protection issue. On average, a woman will come out on the short-end in a straight up physical fight with a man. On average a man is bigger, stronger, has more upper body strength and is heavier. A handgun is just about the ideal equalizer in a fight and allows for a woman to not only protect her selves but protect her self at a distance. The best way to survive a physical confrontation is to never let it get to that point. Finally, despite what you might have read it the news papers, a person is NOT more likely to be injured or killed with their own firearm.
The fact that NOW is not pro-2nd amendment is just additional evidence that they are not a woman's rights group anymore but just a liberal political group.

Dr. NObama of energy
As Power Line notes: What Obama really stands for is managed decline--a government-supervised lowering of Americans' standards of living. (That would be your standard of living, of course, not his.) In this, he is Jimmy Carter redux.
Obama appears to be against anything that has a real chance of helping with this country's energy needs or with anything that might help reduce the consumer cost of gas. I still want one of these to get completely off the grid.

Some high-court sanity at last!
So it seems that 5 out of nine justices on the Supreme Court upheld the 2nd amendment right of the people to keep and bare arms. This is all very well and good and I am glad that it worked out this way. My question is how could 4 out of nine conclude that this was not the case? It says so right in the amendment and yet 4 out of the nine best(?) judges in the country could not plainly see this? I think this says a lot more about the politics of the court than of the legal interpretations of the case at hand.
Justice for victims of the U.N.?
Yet another example in a long string of such, showing the U.N. to be a morally and financially corrupt organization that has long since lost its direction and focus (if it ever really had any to begin with).
At Sbrenica, Dutch forces, operating as UN "peacekeepers" lured Bosniacs into areas which were claimed to be safe havens, disarmed the Bosniacs, and promised that the UN peacekeepers would protect the disarmed Bosniacs. When Serbs attacked, the Dutch peacekeepers (unlike peacekeepers guarding some other safe havens) fled, leaving the Bosniacs to be murdered.
It seems that U.N. "peacekeepers" are either running in fear, abandoning those they are supposed to protect or they are trafficking in child sex and slavery. When are we going to stop giving this group money?

A debate on a Massachusetts version of Jessica's Law resulted in the following:
Rep. Fagan, a defense attorney, infuriated victims’ rights advocates during a recent House debate when he said he would “rip apart” 6-year-old victims on the witness stand and “make sure the rest of their life is ruined.”
In a fiery soliloquy on the House floor, Fagan said he’d grill victims so that, “when they’re 8 years old they throw up; when they’re 12 years old, they won’t sleep; when they’re 19 years old, they’ll have nightmares and they’ll never have a relationship with anybody.”
Not once in the article did they state Fagan's party affiliation even though the party of Karyn Polito is mentioned. Karyn is the only other politician directly named in this article.
With a quick Google search I was able to turned up what the Boston Herald wasn't. I was also able to discover his full name. James H. Fagan, Party Affiliation - Democrat.

Every vote must count!
Even zombie votes! Apparently there are over 8,550 dead peaple still elajable to vote in Connecticut. In one extream case, a dead person has voted 17 times since leaving the land of the living.
Even with all of these facts in place, some still cling to the idea that there is no evidence of any election fraud.
Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz is adamant that “actually no dead people voted.”
“I want to be very clear about that,” she said, explaining that while votes were cast and counted in the names of the dead, “there was no voter fraud at all in the state of Connecticut.”
Officials elsewhere have confirmed other cases in which dead people appear to have voted.
In Washington State, Republican Dino Rossi ran for governor in 2004, and lost by only 133 votes. Officials confirmed that the names of 19 dead people somehow cast ballots.
I am willing to bet big money that the dead lean heavily democratic and as such is "no big deal" and in fact would explain much of the Democrats willingness to fight against any and all voter ID laws.

Barack Obama's plan to destroy America
It is unbelievable that he would say these things. It would be ludicrous if it were not so serious. This is the person that the left has selected to be the most powerful person in the world?
I have to wonder, does he sleep at night, in his house with his wife and children with the doors and windows unlocked and open? Does he have a sign in his front yard that says "no guns here"? I don't think so. So why does he want to do that to the entire country?

What was new is now old...
Sorry but this is just too funny! Bill Clinton complaining about MSM bias! His entire presidency was one big media love fest that he worked like a master conductor to the detriment of everyone and every thing that stood in the way of him and his wife. Now that the media has moved on the new and shiny and is treating him and Hillary like they treated EVERYONE ELSE, he gets a bit snitty. Just too funny!

"One fourth of the population is retarded"
As a side note and it is hinted at, toward the end of the clip, a reporter talks about Obama getting a "fair shake" from red states during the primary, those are their people, their party. The Democrats always push the mime about conservatives and republicans being raciest but this entire primary season it has been Democrats voting for or against Obama, Democrats answering exit poles and Democrats worrying about if he is "black enough" or "too black". Not Republicans or conservatives. That fact just does not seem to be able to register with the MSM or they are willfully ignoring it?

You have to love the headline over the accompanying photograph: "Trapped by Technology". No, I don't think so. I think a more appropriate title would have been "Trapped by stupidity!"

eMail Joke: Oil Shortage
A lot of folks can't understand how we came to have an oil shortage here in our country.
Well, there's a very simple answer. Nobody bothered to check the oil.
We just didn't know we were getting low. The reason for that is purely geographical. Our OIL is located in: Alaska, California, Coastal Florida, Coastal Louisiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Our DIPSTICKS are located in Washington , DC!!!
Any Questions??? NO? Didn't think So.

eMail Joke:$50 is $50
Morris and his wife Esther went to the state fair every year, and every year Morris would say, 'Esther,I'd like to ride in that helicopter.'
Esther always replied, 'I know Morris, but that helicopter ride is fifty dollars, and fifty dollars is fifty dollars.'
One year Esther and Morris went to the fair, and Morris said, 'Esther, I'm 85 years old. If I don't ride that helicopter, I might never get another chance.'
To this, Esther replied, 'Morris that helicopter ride is fifty dollars, and fifty dollars is fifty dollars.'
The pilot overheard the couple and said, 'Folks I'll make you a deal. I'll take the both of you for a ride. If you can stay quiet for the entire ride and don't say a word I won't charge you a penny! But if you say one word it's fifty dollars.'
Morris and Esther agreed and up they went.
The pilot did all kinds of fancy maneuvers, but not a word was heard. He did his daredevil tricks over and over again, but still not a word. When they landed, the pilot turned to Morris and said, 'By golly, I did everything I could to get you to yell out, but you didn't. I'm impressed!'
Morris replied, 'Well, to tell you the truth, I almost said something when Esther fell out, but you know, fifty dollars is fifty dollars!'

Thanks for NOTHING, Sen. Feinstein
Now, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) has attached the perennial AgJOBS amnesty to the must-pass Iraq War appropriations bill. This was part of the “comprehensive” amnesty bill. She is carrying water for those in the agriculture sector who wantonly hire illegal aliens.
Illegals receive immunity for any Social Security fraud if they worked under a fake or stolen Social Security number. They’d get their own SSN. They don’t have to pay any back taxes owed on illegal employment.
Feinstein prohibits Homeland Security from using any information illegals provide on their legalization application for law enforcement. So, AgJOBS gives lawbreakers (illegal aliens and agricultural employers) immunity from past lawbreaking.
With friends like these, who needs enemies!

We deserve a "fair and balanced" media and we just don't have even close to that in this day and age.

Shame on Google!
So much for "do no evil" eh?
So what was this horrible thing that caused Google to feel compelled to rat the man out to authorities? It seems he posted "content in vulgar language about Sonia Gandhi".
And for this heinous crime (thank the stars that Google was able to help in his apprehension) he could be "imprisoned for up to five years and may have to pay a fine up to Rs one lakh."
Thank you Google, thank you for protecting us all from such a vial and disgusting person! Thanks for making the world a safer place!

Harvard and the Military
Good article and worth the read. I am afraid though that its sentiments will fall on deaf ears. The left is all for respecting diversity as long as it is their diversity that you are respecting. Just like the left is all for free speech as long as it is their free speech. The left is all for inalienable rights as long as it is the ones they approve of.
Harvard is all about making a "statement" and kicking ROTC off of campus but they still seem fairly eager to continue to accept take Federal funds.
Typical lefty hypocrites.
I expect that Drew Faust won't take the offered advice and will choose to use this event as a political platform and I also expect that any media coverage will gush about her courage "speaking truth to power" and I unfortunately, I don't expect to be disappointed...

MythBusters: Electric vs. Gas Go-Karts
Very interesting but as some of the posters noted, I can re-fill my go-kart gas tank in under a minute and be back on the track racing whereas I need hours to fully charge my electric model.
I fly electric RC helicopters that utilize LiPo batteries and always have at least 2 sets so one can charge while the other is in use. That is currently expensive enough when talking 18v but would be prohibitive when talking 110v and high amps.
Electric will still only be marginally better than gas until we can get more nuclear power plants constructed. When we covert the grid over to non-fossil fuels then swapping EVs in place of ICEs make sense. Until then, even with the economy of scale, you are producing a lot of "residue" for each kilowatt.
I would rather just have one of these in my basement...

The money line is: If she had written a story about a charter school illegally giving instructions in the Catholic or Mormon faith, these same journalists would have nominated her for an award.
This is so true. Not only would she get an award but the ACLU would be suing and the school would be swamped with reporters. Instead she is being attacked by both the school, local politicians and her peers. I guess her crime is being intolerant of their intolerance.

Speeding for me but not for thee...
Of those citations, 76 were dismissed after supervisors determined that officers were responding to calls or had other valid reasons to exceed the speed limit.
Pardon me but I would like a list of what those "other valid reasons" to exceed the posted limit are. You are either on a call or you are not. If not, than you should follow all of the rules of the road just like everyone else has to.
I also love this part:
The officers are following the advice of their union, which says the citations are issued not to the driver but to the vehicle's owner -- in this case, the county.
These are the very same people that rightly criticize defense lawyers for using legal maneuverings to help their clients escape justice and here they are doing the same thing.

Human Statue of Liberty
Bush attacked by Democrats for "not" attacking Democrats!
Barack Obama said: "It is sad that President Bush would use a speech to the Knesset on the 60th anniversary of Israel's independence to launch a false political attack," [Obama] said in a statement. "Instead of tough talk and no action, we need to do what Kennedy, Nixon and Reagan did and use all elements of American power--including tough, principled, and direct diplomacy--to pressure countries like Iran and Syria." Obama added that Bush was aware that the candidate had never supported talking to terrorists, "and the president's extraordinary politicization of foreign policy and the politics of fear do nothing to secure the American people or our stalwart ally Israel."
Hillary Clinton said: "President Bush's comparison of any Democrat to Nazi appeasers is both offensive and outrageous, on the face of it and especially in light of his failures in foreign policy," she said. "This is the kind of statement that has no place in any presidential address and certainly to use an important moment like the 60th anniversary celebration of Israel to make a political point seems terribly misplaced."
Sen. Joe Biden said: "This is bullshit, this is malarkey. This is outrageous, for the president of the United States to go to a foreign country, to sit in the Knesset . . . and make this kind of ridiculous statement."
And what pray tell did President Bush say against these political actors and the esteemed Democratic party? Let us see, shall we?
There are good and decent people who cannot fathom the darkness in these men and try to explain away their words. It's natural, but it is deadly wrong. As witnesses to evil in the past, we carry a solemn responsibility to take these words seriously. Jews and Americans have seen the consequences of disregarding the words of leaders who espouse hatred. And that is a mistake the world must not repeat in the 21st century.
Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: "Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided." We have an obligation to call this what it is--the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.
Some people suggest if the United States would just break ties with Israel, all our problems in the Middle East would go away. This is a tired argument that buys into the propaganda of the enemies of peace, and America utterly rejects it.
Interesting, I don't see any mention of Obama, Clinton, Biden or any other Democrat or even any mention of anyone specific at all. This could just as easily be about those at the NYTs, Code Pink, MoveOn.org or any of the others that have advocated capitulation instead of resistance. I think that this is a demonstration of mass guilt. They all feel this way so they assume that when anyone talks of appeasement they just assume that they are the ones being referred to regardless of if the reference is direct, indirect or non-existent.
This is the politics of change we can believe in?

Medical Organ Adoption Solution
This is unbelievable! To adopt a child for the sole purpose of harvesting their organs is unbelievable. So, consenting adults can't legally sell their own organs but it is perfectly legal to adopt and then steal the organs of a child?
We are a domestic and international adoption agency where parents are free to adopt a child who is a perfect match (up to 18 yrs) for the transplant of one or -more “non-essential” organs to be donated to one of the adopting parents or your own children. Your new son or daughter would give you their heart, if it was possible, but a lung, eye or three feet of intestine might be enough to prove that love.
They also have a very nice price chart that allows you to pick the organ(s) you need and the age of the donor, to meet any budget. They can even assist with an adoption loan. Just a full service site, they are.
Sorry but this is just sick...

No good deed ever goes unpunished
Read the link and article first...
And let us not forget the child rapists! You can't have the U.N. involved in anything without some children being sexually exploited. I think it is in their training films or something.

I can't believe he says this sort of thing with a straight face!
Mr. McCain exhibited (as the press usually does) a complete lack of consciousness of the fact that evidence of warming is not evidence of what causes warming. Yet policy must be a matter of costs and benefits, adjusted for the uncertainties involved. Which brings us to today's irony: He who finds a six-figure earmark an affront to humanity is prepared to wave through a trillion-dollar climate bill without, as far as anyone can tell, a single systematic thought about costs and benefits.
As is noted in the article, you can believe that the Earth is warmer without believing that it is man's fault. Mars has recently had warmer temperatures for goodness sake! Is man's impact on the world so great that we have had an effect on Mars too? Get over your selves already!
Between this and things like his recent comments related to immunizations, he is in serious jeopardy of drifting into the "community based reality".

More illegal thoughts...
I agree with the general theme of the article and this is not just restricted to Navarrette Jr. It is a ploy used by nearly everyone on the "pro" immigration side of this debate. Most of the people championing rights and amnesty for illegals continuously, purposefully confuse the issue by mixing legal and illegal immigrants into the same pot thereby hoping to gain points for the poor, poor, pitiful immigrant that everyone is picking on. No one is picking on immigrants because as has been pointed out time and time again, nearly everyone has immigrants in their family tree.
What we are picking on and yelling about are illegal aliens and illegal aliens with an attitude of entitlement in that because they are here they should be treated at least as well as U.S. citizens are. It helps not one bit when our elected officials basically tell us, in response to our raising legitimate concerns, to just "get over it".

"Card check," unionization, an idea whose time should never come
In this day and age, in this country, unions are a dinosaur that should have long ago died away. That sadly has not happened and is not likely to happen any time soon. In fact the aged beast that is unions is trying to make an end run around extinction by attempting to get the legal right to not hold secret voting for unionization.
The current rules are basically that in order to unionize, 51% of the employees affected by the unionization have to sign a petition in favor of a union. Then a secret vote is held and if the majority vote in favor of a union, so be it.
In a number of cases, for a number of reasons, a petition for a union does not always result in a union. There can be a number of reasons for this but the one that seems most plausible is that people can easily be strong-armed into signing a petition as most of the signature collection efforts take place in the open where employees congregate and so there can be a bit of social pressure to sign up. But once you are in the voting booth, behind closed doors with no one strong arming you, many vote against the union that they may have felt pressure to publicly endorse. This is called democracy. This is not good enough for unions. They want this public, potentially (likely) coerced collection of signatures to be the same as a secret vote and once 51% have signed, allow unionization.
What would be the result of proposing that general elections be held this way? If it is not good for general elections (for obvious reasons) then why is it good for unionization votes?

The audacity of hopeyness and changitude
And this gem from the comments section concerning the Israel conflict and the root of Arab anger at Israel is fairly spot on:
Humiliation is at the root of their current genocidal rage. Those filthy Jews took a spot of godforsaken wilderness and made it blossom as a rose. Israel thrives–without petroleum–while its oil-rich neighbors live in self-inflicted squalor.

Remember when they said Bush would destroy democracy?
We shall see if the Democrats are held to the same standard the media and government hold the Republicans to. This story was originally covered here. I am glad to see that they are finally making some headway but I don't hold out much hope for a fair and honest outcome, this being a Democrat controlled congress and all...

When the inmates run the asylum
What an utter, preventable tragedy! That this could happen in a modern society is a shame. That the politics and laws of the land made this tragedy inevitable is both unmistakable and a travesty.
Then for the homeless shelter that forced the hand of the city counsel, to absolve its self of any responsibility or culpability in all of this is yet another crime:
the homeless shelter denies any responsibility.
Here is their theory:
The decisions on where to place Clark and who to house next to him were taken by Leeds city council.
Questions need to be asked as to why this young girl and her family were housed next to a known sex offender.
So, currently in the UK it is perfectly acceptable for a repeat sex offender to draw benefits and live anywhere he wishes without any warning to any of his neighbours in part at the urging of a local homeless shelter which then puts the responsibility of keeping the rest of the community "out of harms way" on the local government without them having the ability to tell the community why, and when the inevitable happened, the shelter has the hubris to question the actions of the counsel. The inmates have indeed taking over management of the asylum!

But there is no need for voter ID laws!
In Arizona, the only state that requires proof of citizenship to register to vote, more than 38,000 voter registration applications have been thrown out since the state adopted its measure in 2004. . . . More than 70 percent of those registrations came from people who stated under oath that they were born in the United States, the data showed.
Yep, no problems here, just keep moving along folks...

Space is the place!
This is just too cool! The first private space station is still operational after over 660 days in orbit and over (by now) 10,000 orbits of the Earth. It was launched on July 12, 2006 and has been operational ever since. A private manned space station is nearing a reality and it can't come too soon. I am grateful to the U.S. government for getting us into space in the first place but they just can not do space as quickly and cheaply as private enterprises.
Hard rock luck hotel
The USA Today (maybe not a great paper but certainly a big paper, ran a story on how hard hit folks are in the current economic down turn. This particular story would have been ideal to run April 1st but alas this story is no joke. This is how USA Today chooses to express how hard hit the “little” guy is thanks to the current economy:
Carlos Bueno and his wife, Mayra, drove three times last year from their home in Houston to a casino in Lake Charles, La., but they won't be making the two-hour drive this summer.
"Gas prices are the main reason," says the 32-year-old father of three children who works for a utility company and also is canceling the family's annual vacation to the Dominican Republic. . . .
To save money on casino trips, Al Katz sold his SUV last month and bought a more fuel-efficient Toyota Camry.
Katz, a 55-year-old comedian, drives with his wife, Colleen, about 70 miles every week or two from his home in Kissimmee, Fla., to the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. They also drive more than nine hours a few times each year to gamble in Biloxi, Miss.
"We may have to eliminate a trip or two" if the economic downturn continues, says Katz, who entertains on cruise ships. "Every time I get off a cruise ship, gas is a quarter more expensive."
Marie Braun, 45, of Olathe, Kan., has already made the decision to cut back, from five casino visits a year to two or three visits. Gas is too expensive for a 60-mile round trip to Missouri, says Braun, who works for a telecommunications company.
"It's pretty tough to justify spending money on any kind of entertainment when it costs so much just to get to work each day," she says.
Oh so sad! These people are on the verge of loosing EVERYTHING due to the economy! They have no food, no home, no cars… no wait, they do have those things and in fact they have much more. They actually seem to have so much disposable income (even in this devastating economy) that they can still afford to take multiple trips a year to give their excess money to casinos.
This is similar to the old story of the cold war in the former USSR. There they used to show news clips from the 60s and 70s of war protesters and riots to demonstrate how bad things were in America and what the viewers took away was “they all have new shoes”.
The news is so worked up over pushing the story of a bad US economy that they will latch onto anything to help make their point, not realizing how ridicules their examples come across.
It is almost the punch line of a joke “the economy is SO bad… How bad it is? It is so bad, this year I can only afford 2 trips to Vegas to gamble!”
