Did ACORN chicanery elect Al Franken?
Franken won by only 312 votes and ACORN claimed to have registered 48,000 new Minnesota voters. You do the math...

The fat lady ain't sung yet
It appears that despite the best efforts of Al Franken and the Democrats, the Minnesota election is not yet over. It appears that Senator Coleman still has a good chance to honestly win this election and I hope that this election is resolved "honestly" in his favor. What has happened in Minnesota in regards to this election and the Democrats makes Chicago politics look clean. There should be a federal investigation but I doubt that will happen though that could change if Franken does lose in which case Coleman will probably wind up being the one investigated instead of the Democrats.

Who laughs last
Seems all is not funny for funny man Al Franken. Apparently there is (at least implied) a cover-up related to his financials.
We've covered the tax and legal compliance problems of Minnesota Democratic Senatorial candidate Al Franken over the past few weeks. First came the revelation of his failure to pay workers' compensation insurance in New York. Then came the revelation of his failure to file corporate tax returns in California. This week it was revealed that Franken owes $70,000 in back taxes in 17 states.
It could all be Innocent but it also seems to fit the "good enough for thee but not for me" attitude and mentality of so many at the upper levels of liberal politics that it is hard not to give it some weight. It does not improve the situation any that Al blames this all on his accountant but then his accountant is instructed not to discuss the issues with anyone, resulting in him not being able to explain the situation or defend himself from Al's excuses.
I also have to agree with this statement from Scott at Power Line "It is perhaps the most damning development yet in the continuing saga of the comedian who hasn't been deliberately funny since the expiration of the Al Franken Decade in 1990."

More "law for thee but not for me" hypocrisy
Democratic Senator Paul Wellstone (died in a small plane crash with some of his campaign workers) did not have the required workers' compensation insurance for his employees.
Democratic Senate candidate Al Franken owes a $25,000 penalty to the New York State Workers' Compensation Board for failing to carry workers' compensation insurance for employees of his namesake corporation (Alan Franken Inc.) from 2002 to 2005.
What is it with these guys? They all claim to be all about the little guy and to get them help and to stand up to "the man" but it seems in a lot of cases to be nothing but talk. They are "crushing" small business with mountains of regulations to help protect the "little guy" but it seems they often don't follow their own rhetoric.
This is in the same vain as those that call for higher taxes. You want to pay higher taxes then fine, just write uncle Sam a big fat check every year. He would be glad to take it. But no, that is not what they really mean. They mean they want us to pay higher taxes, not them. They get to keep their tax lawyers and loop holes while vilifying companies like Exxon Mobil for "record profits" that include record taxes, in fact as much taxes as those paid by the bottom 50% of tax payers.
But lets not let any thing as silly as facts get is the way of some good old reliable mimes.

Al Franken, where does he stand?
Well apparently he stands for universal health care, bringing the troops home NOW and 100% federally funded elections.
So Franken wants to further drive up the cost and expense of health care and further inflate the budget and increase the national debt while reducing the quality of our current care.
Franken also wants to plunge the middle east into another regional war that will result in more civilian deaths and more terrorists with his cut and run immediately strategy.
He also wants to 100% subsidize the politicians campaigns. I would hate to see that bill. If there is no cap on spending, they will spend everything. If there is a cap on spending, how do you determine what that cap is and how will you stop people or 527s from spending over that amount? Who qualifies for the free campaign? Anyone or just someone from one of the major parties? Look at how well politicians manage to spend our money today, imagine if they are able to spend it on their own campaigns directly.
