I agree with the general theme of the article and this is not just restricted to Navarrette Jr. It is a ploy used by nearly everyone on the "pro" immigration side of this debate. Most of the people championing rights and amnesty for illegals continuously, purposefully confuse the issue by mixing legal and illegal immigrants into the same pot thereby hoping to gain points for the poor, poor, pitiful immigrant that everyone is picking on. No one is picking on immigrants because as has been pointed out time and time again, nearly everyone has immigrants in their family tree.
What we are picking on and yelling about are illegal aliens and illegal aliens with an attitude of entitlement in that because they are here they should be treated at least as well as U.S. citizens are. It helps not one bit when our elected officials basically tell us, in response to our raising legitimate concerns, to just "get over it".
