The former president shied away from any political stance and said each U.S. leader must surround themselves with people they can trust.
Why can't former Democratic presidents have as much class? There used to be an understanding that former presidents don't criticize current presidents. That used to be universally honor. Carter was the first former president I can recall that spoke ill of a sitting president which he did a lot. Clinton has loose lips too. Reagan, Bush I and now Bush II seem to have the self restraint and respect for the office of president to not critique the current holder of that office.

''You're Going To Destroy My Presidency'
Well actually, I could just as easily say "You're going to destroy your presidency!" as it certainly looks like he is doing everything in his power to make that happen. Between ramming through a stimulus package that an't stimulating much, to a economy destroying "cap & trade" bill that will do little or nothing to help the climate, to finally a "take it / no option to leave it" healthcare redesign that looks to not only increase everyone's costs but also reduce service levels and impose rationing.
Obama may go down in history as the one president that manages to make Carter look good. Now that would be some feat!

San Francisco group want George W. Bush Sewage Plant
So a group in San Francisco wants to rename a sewage treatment plant after President Bush. If that is the case, I guess it would only be fair to name a women's abuse center after former President Clinton and a mental facility after former President Carter.

Rush Limbaugh's platform
1. Open the continental shelf to drilling. Ditto the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
2. Establish a 17 percent flat tax.
3. Privatize Social Security.
4. Give parents school vouchers to break the monopoly of public education.
5. Revoke Jimmy Carter’s passport while he is out of the country.
6. Abandon all government policies based on the hoax of man-made global warming.
I would fully support #1, #3, #4, #6. I would replace #2 with the FairTax (which I think is a better answer). I think #5 is not only a stellar idea but long over due. The man was an abysmal president and has managed to out do even that by being an even more abysmal former president. He seems to have never met a dictator he hasn't liked. He is far more effective at building houses than he is at international affairs.

Well, Iowa at least got that right
And it’s equally abysmal on the Democratic side. If he wins the presidency in November, Barack Obama would become the first Democrat ever to win the Iowa caucuses and the White House in the same year (”uncommitted” beat Jimmy Carter in 1976).
That vote certainly showed a lot of common sense! If Carter is not #1 for worst president ever, he has to be in the top two. The list of his failures in office is astounding; double digit inflation, gas shortage and high prices, giving away the Panama canal, letting Skylab fall, and the hostage fiasco. Since leaving office he has made it his hobby to bad-mouth every sitting Republican president and to cosy up to every dictator he can find. He was and is a man of questionable judgment. Being of age to casting my first ever presidential vote for Reagen and against Carter is a memorable pleasure to me.

Carter meets the real world
Guess what happens when someone without a gun tells someone with a gun:
"We're going to anyway!" Carter angrily retorted. "You don't have the power to stop me."
That someone (without the gun) is proved wrong. Oh, and just in case the irony was lost on former President Carter I would like to ensure that he understands that this sort of thing HAPPENS EVERY DAY all over the world. People with guns get to tell people without guns what they can and can not do. They also get to take what ever they want up to and including your life. That is why it is better to have at least the option to have a gun of your own. It sort of, you know levels the playing field somewhat. It gives the all kinds of physically weaker individuals a fighting chance in the "real world".
