Stimulate this...

Yet again the government wants to DO SOMETHING regardless of whether that something is good, bad or indifferent. There is absolutely NO way that any member of congress has read this bill and understands what is in it. I would suggest that as long as they got theirs, they do not really care what is in it. This Stimulus package was never really about stimulating the economy, that was just a convenient cover. If it really was about stimulating the economy and trying to make things better, it would have been cheaper, more efficient and more productive (not that I approve of this either) to just give every adult $10K to spend as they see fit. Some would pay down their debt (a good thing for credit), some would save it (a good thing for banks) and some would spend it (a good thing for businesses). The only people not "enriched" by this more simpler plan is politicians and those that they owe favors to.

P.S. And how in the wide, wide world of sports does giving money to ACORN help the economy? It does not, it is just more payback.

Enviro-hypocrisy at the highest levels

Did you really expect something else?

As usual, it is quite fashionable for those in power to preach the need for sacrifice to the masses but just as with communist countries, all of the preaching and posturing is meant to guide our lives, not theirs.

Good luck, President Obama. The rest of you can go to hell.

It was a good post and I think that this comment sums up my sentiments nicely as well...

Great post. The complete foolishness and cultish hero worship on display in this lengthy piece of narcissism would be laughable had it not been for the one thing that infuriates me about it, the “selective patriotism” of those on the left. According to the left it is only appropriate to be patriotic when a Democrat is in the White House, once Jindal or Romney or whatever GOPer takes Obama’s place in 2012 or (hopefully not) 2016, patriotism ends.

I did not like Bill Clinton, but I did not stop my love of my country from 1992 to 2000. I truly dislike Barack Obama, but I will be just as much of a Patriotic American tomorrow as I am today. Patriotism should never depend on who lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Amen brother!

Why California is No Longer a Paradise

As the blogger notes:

California has followed the grim path of the Great Lakes states.

As I wrote before, those states where once the industrial dynamo for the entire Earth, yet they destroyed that enormous economic dominance by political policies hostile to economic creativity. Likewise, California had a golden era as an economic and cultural dynamo. Well up until the late 1980s California was the place to go to make it big. People moved from other states to California. Now, internal migration has reversed. California looks less like a dreamland and more like basket case waiting to happen.

The truly sad thing is that many of those people fleeing California for greener pastures are bringing with them the same appetite for big government, nanny state-ism that turned California from a paradise into a bankrupt nutty farm. They will then proceed to mess it up for everyone else.

Al's not in yet...

It looks like it might not be so easy for the Democrats to steal the Minnesota senate race for Al after all, at least not yet. Though, if he is certified as the winner, Minnesota deserves what it gets. When you elect clowns, don't be surprised when your state turns into a circus.

What 5 Meg looked like in 1956

This is a disk storage unit for an IBM 305 RAMAC, the first computer with a hard disk drive (HDD). This HDD weighed over a ton and stored 5 MB of data and was comprised of fifty 24-inch diameter disks. That is right, 50 disks. That is about 20K of storage per disk. I typically wear a 2 Gig memory stick around my neck when on the road. We've come a long way...

Death of a dinosaur

On a related note, just last night I received a subscription invitation from the New York Times and have already made use of their handy pre-paid response envelope to let them know that I would not subscribe to their paper even if it were the last on earth. As has been noted here and elsewhere, they have long since destroyed their reputation and credibility as a legitimate, reliable source for news. They are (and have been for years) nothing more than liberal propaganda and will twist, skew or just plain make up whatever is needed to support their liberal, leftest goals and I for one will not help to support that with my money.
