What 5 Meg looked like in 1956
This is a disk storage unit for an IBM 305 RAMAC, the first computer with a hard disk drive (HDD). This HDD weighed over a ton and stored 5 MB of data and was comprised of fifty 24-inch diameter disks. That is right, 50 disks. That is about 20K of storage per disk.
