So, the American dream, despite what you might have heard from the media and liberal politicians, is NOT dead. You can still start with nothing and better your lot without an abundance of government handouts and hand-holding. It mostly takes attitude and desire. For every story of the poor, poor, pitiful citizen that just can’t get ahead there is an untold story of someone that did. As is typical for the media though, the stories of success don’t win ratings or prizes so they don’t get done.
As the article alludes to, stories like "Nickel and Dimed," get high praise and much attention because it re-enforces the conventional mime where as I will be real interested in how much coverage the up coming "Scratch Beginnings: Me, $25, and the Search for the American Dream" gets. I would wager not nearly as much.
